Mission, Vision, and Values

Vision

A world where every animal sanctuary has the support, knowledge, and funding it needs to thrive as a meaningful part of the global animal advocacy movement.

Mission

To provide capacity-building education, operational guidance, and direct financial support to animal sanctuaries, with a focus on sustainability, ethical care, and community impact.

Values

Radical Transparency, Lifelong Learning, Every Life is Sacred, Shared Belonging, Cultural Humility.

Theory of Change

Our work is grounded in Bill Moyer’s Doing Democracy, recognizing sanctuaries as key partners in social change. We help sanctuaries embody compassion, credibility, and strategy — moving from moral awakening to societal and institutional change.

Governance & Transparency

We believe in radical transparency. Operation Angels publicly shares its core governance documents to model good nonprofit practice. These include: By-laws, Conflict of Interest Policy, Whistleblower Policy, Strategic Plan, and Financial Statements (including IRS 990s as available)

Programs Overview

Operation Angels delivers two core programs: structured education in strategy and systems, and financial grants to sanctuaries aligned with our Impact Criteria. Together, these programs strengthen sanctuary operations, elevate animal care standards, and position sanctuaries as vital contributors to cultural and institutional change for farmed animals.

  • SPAA and SPAA for Sanctuary

Strategic Planning for Animal Activism (SPAA) and our specialised SPAA for Sanctuary program equip sanctuary leaders with practical tools for long-term sustainability. Through self-paced learning or live cohorts, you'll develop clear strategic plans, strengthen operations, and master the art of animal storytelling for advocacy.

We provide strategic grants to farmed animal sanctuaries committed to excellence in care, governance, and advocacy. Our transparent funding process prioritises sanctuaries that complete our educational programs and demonstrate alignment with our Impact Criteria.
