Operation Angels has secured a generous commitment from a major donor, who will add 50 cents to every $1 donated through the end of 2027. This means your gift of $100 becomes $150, multiplying the resources we can provide to sanctuaries. The matching program ensures that every contribution goes further, helping us build a stronger and more sustainable sanctuary movement.

Operation Angels is the only organization focused exclusively on strengthening farmed animal sanctuaries. While other funders support a wide range of strategies, we concentrate on sanctuaries because they are often overlooked — yet they play a vital role in animal care and vegan advocacy. We combine deep expertise in sanctuary systems, governance, and fundraising to help sanctuaries become more resilient and impactful for the long term.

Advocacy is central to our mission. Sanctuaries don’t just rescue animals — they tell powerful stories that can change hearts and minds. Whether through community events, social media, school programs, or other forms of outreach, we look for sanctuaries that amplify the voices of animals and inspire people to embrace veganism.

Once our 501(c)(3) status is secured, Operation Angels will provide official tax receipts for donors in the United States. For supporters in other countries, while we aren’t able to issue receipts — every single dollar you give is so important in that it will make a real and lasting difference for animals. Your generosity fuels our mission, and with our matching program in place through 2027, your impact goes even further.

Our skilled team carefully applies our impact criteria to decide how donations are distributed. This ensures your dollars have maximum impact, reaching sanctuaries that are well-positioned to care for animals and advance meaningful vegan advocacy. You can feel confident knowing that we’re doing the hard work of evaluation, so your generosity goes as far as possible.

We are beginning our work in Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia. These are the regions where we will start building strong partnerships with sanctuaries. Over time, our hope is to expand our reach so that more sanctuaries — and more animals — around the world can benefit from Operation Angels’ support.

Beginning in 2026, our skilled team will conduct animal care assessments via Zoom. These virtual visits allow us to evaluate sanctuary practices while keeping operating costs low, so that more funding can go directly to animals. Our long-term goal is to expand our capacity to include in-person visits, ensuring even deeper support and connection with sanctuaries as resources grow.

We focus on small- and medium-sized sanctuaries, typically with annual operating budgets under $1 million. These sanctuaries often have deep connections with their communities and powerful advocacy reach. By supporting them, we can strengthen the sanctuary movement where it matters most — close to the animals and close to the public.

Sanctuaries are the moral heart of the animal protection movement. They provide animals with safe, lifelong homes while also inspiring people to imagine a more compassionate world. At Operation Angels, we believe that when sanctuaries are strong, they can serve as powerful centers for vegan advocacy, storytelling, and change. This is a vital part of building a future where animals are no longer exploited.

We use clear and transparent impact criteria to guide our funding decisions. Our skilled team looks at factors such as governance, financial sustainability, animal care standards, and the reach of a sanctuary’s advocacy. This ensures that every dollar goes to sanctuaries that are not only caring for animals but also advancing meaningful, long-term change for animals everywhere.

In rare cases of true, unforeseeable emergencies — such as a wildfire, flood, or other natural disaster — Operation Angels may step in to provide support. However, we do not fund animal care situations labeled as “emergencies” because those typically reflect a lack of proper planning and financial management. Our focus is on strengthening well-run sanctuaries for the long term, so they are prepared to care for animals sustainably and responsibly.
